ADEN WORKSHOP UPDATE |
|
Following the Dinner/Auction held earlier this year to raise money to fund the construction of a vocational workshop on the compound of our sister church in Aden will be pleased to know that the Rev. Peter Crooks and his wife Nancy will be visiting us in Bahrain next week to tell us more about the project and show an updated power point presentation. As previously announced, the net proceeds from the dinner/auction, together with a top-up from the BACC’s outward giving budget, enabled us to send US$10,000 to the specific Episcopal Relief and Development Fund, meaning that in effect St. Christopher’s Cathedral can proudly claim to have funded what will be the building and basic kitting out of the workshop. Its purpose is to provide vocational training in welding and carpentry skills to impoverished Yemenis and destitute Somali refugees so to give them a chance of meaningful employment and a brighter future. Peter and Nancy will be arriving on Thursday evening, 5th June, hence will be presenting their update at the following three services: 6th June Friday 9.30 a.m. @ the Cathedral 7th June Saturday 10.00 a.m. @ Awali Church 8th June Sunday 10.30 a.m. @ the Cathedral Due to airline schedules, unfortunately they will not be able to stay for the Sunday evening 6.30 p.m. service. Those who normally attend that service and would like to hear what Peter and Nancy have to say and show you visually, please choose one of the above three alternative services. Failing that, Peter and Nancy will be staying in the Bishop’s flat so may be contacted during other times should anyone wish to visit them, or simply call and have a chat. Any questions? Please feel free to contact Angela Murray: 17692 795 or 3961 2062. |
