The weekend 1st to 3rd December marked the beginning of the ’Church year’ and the start of Advent. In the cathedral this was celebrated by the performance of a Nativity Play at the Friday morning service and again on Sunday evening. Beth Becker who has recently joined us in Bahrain, teaching at one of the Manama schools, has had much experience of working with youngsters in her home church in the USA. In two short rehearsals Beth assembled a group of youngsters from the Friday Family Service to taker part in a Nativity Scene tableau.. With Beth’s leadership and narrative they beautifully brought to life the Christmas story. The service was interspersed with carols celebrating the coming of the Lord; this included Beth singing a lovely solo ‘a cappella’. On the Sunday evening the service culminated in the celebration of Holy Communion.
