At the end of the last school term St Christopher’s School, the infant departments at Awali and Budaiya moved to their brand new school with the juniors in Saar. This brought to an end the weekly Christian assemblies at Awali which have been taking place there since before St Christopher’s took over the school over 10 years ago.  Awali school was a very special place with a deep and incomparable family feel about it.  The assemblies too were memorable, fully participatory with the most wonderful and stimulating children.  The end of term was inevitably sad as we brought an era to a close, but the prospect and anticipation of moving to the new school was exciting.

The new Junior and Infant campus in Saar is truly magnificent, in total contrast to the former buildings in Awali and Budaiya. The first thing the children will need to learn is orienteering as they try to find their way around the cavernous buildings and sample the up-to-date facilities that await them. Whether they can recreate the atmosphere of Awali remains to be seen. Christian assemblies will continue on the new site.
