At what was a most memorable evening in The Alun Morris Hall held after Evening Service on Sunday 8th June to celebrate Maj. Gen. Gerald Green’s 90th birthday, he asked that the following quotation, given to him by his grandfather on his 17th birthday be shared with all present “I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer nor neglect it for I shall not pass this way again.” By his multiple acts of kindness and generous outreach during his many years in Bahrain, Maj. Gen. Gerald Green has continuously followed his grandfather’s injunction in that he has ‘not deferred nor neglected to help his fellow creatures’. For as long as many of us can remember he has been Chairman of the Cathedral Outward Giving Committee, and in this role has been instrumental in helping many in need. He is an example to us all.
