Friday Service News

When the family grows there are the inevitable growing pains. Congregations and services are not exempt from this phenomenon. Pat Smith has been doing a wonderful job running the Friday Club with Amy’s help. As she gathers up her ‘chicks’ on a Friday morning they leave the church like bath water being sucked down the plug hole and return later with effervescent enthusiasm. There is still the question of what to do with the thankfully ever present 1’s to 2½ years olds, those too young to be separated from Mum or Dad but just beginning to be inquisitive, getting mobile and testing out the acoustics. BUT, children of all ages are welcome to stay for the whole service if they so wish. The option is there for you to choose. However, we are introducing the ‘All In’ Service once a month when ALL children will stay in for the whole service and give Pat and helpers the opportunity to worship with us all. The first ‘All In’ will be on Friday 24th March which appropriately coincides with Mother’s Day (Mothering Sunday).

In the past couple of years we have organised a Friday morning service in the desert during Lent. This year’s ‘Walk in the Desert’ will be on Friday 31st March when the Bishop will be with us. More details to follow of time, place, etc but be ready to bring your lunch and make at least a half day of it.

The Friday 9.30 a.m. Family Service is YOUR service whatever age. If you have ideas, suggestions, comments about any aspect of our service then please let the Dean know. Your wish is his command. A.H.
