Children's Christmas Card Competition

This project is another "first" in the life of the Bahrain chaplaincy.  While fellow wardens Rachel Bainbridge and Angela Murray mused over morning coffee one summer's day, Rachel came up with the idea and enthusiastically encouraged Angela to implement it!

The result tells its own story.  Sixteen young people put their imagination, crayons and felt-tip pens to paper.  Between them they created a splendid range of artwork.

The twenty entries are shown on the following two pages and displayed in the cathedral coffee room.  They were submitted by:
Infant Category :-
  Charlotte Axtell (6);
Lauren Julia East (age 5);
Sarah Ann Punnen (age 3);
Katrina Putri Azwar (age 6);
Norah Rebecca Punnen (age 3);
Trisha Empensando (age 5)
Junior Category :-
  Angelos Ioannides (age 9);
Desmond Tuckerman (age 7);
Isabella Ioannides (age 12);
Regina Danieta Azwar (age 8);
Tryphaena Thanapaul (age 10);
Carla East (age 11);
George Axtell (age 7);
Kustiani Tuckerman (age 9);
Tatiana Bainbridge (age 6)
Teenage Category :-
  Joanna Pouponneau (age 16)

The winning entries were produced as cards.  Sales have exceeded print-run projections, such has been the popularity of this innovative idea.  So much so that the next idea is to produce a small limited edition set of prints of all entries so that anyone who wishes to do so may have a chance to buy a souvenir of what has been a very exciting experiment.

Thank you to everyone who supported the project and especially thank you to the sixteen young people who contributed their talent.

Angela Murray
