Church Decoration

Earlier in the year the Royal Society of St George made a donation of BD1,000 to the cathedral to help with on going decoration and refurbishment of our premises. Since the middle of October the whole of the interior of the worship centre, Alun Morris Hall and coffee room have been decorated. We hope to be able to keep these rooms up to standard enhancing the worship of the many congregations using them week by week. Over 45 congregations use our facilities so the rooms suffer a great deal of inevitable wear and tear. We are however only too happy to offer hospitality to so many groups representing a host of nationalities, languages and Christian traditions. It is a truly enriching experience to walk round the compound on any night of the week and hear the exuberant, vibrant and literally Pentecostal worship taking place. We need to honour these congregations by providing fit space to glorify God.

Our thanks and gratitude to the Society of St George for their generosity.
Next year our plan is to redecorate the exterior of our buildings which could do with a face lift!

This work has led us on to another project, long overdue.
I have often bemoaned the fact that the door from the cathedral into the vestry area is unworthy of a cathedral, dubbing it the ‘kitchen door.’  Therefore a full enhancement programme of the office and the outer office area has taken place in gratitude for and in memory of Major General Gerald Green who died earlier this year.  The outer office, or vestibule to the cathedral, has been redecorated and is to be furnished in Bahraini style with Bahraini doors etc form the Al Jasrah Bahrain Craft Centre. Part of this project is to replace the ‘kitchen door’ with a handsome Bahraini door.  We hope this will all be a fitting and utilitarian memorial to Gerald Green and perhaps come to be known as the Gerald Green Room.
