Farewell to Alan and Pam
From the ECC

On the 21st May the Ecumenical Conference of Charity (ECC) organised a farewell party for Alan and Pam , which was held at Caesars Restaurant in Adliya. Those readers who have left Bahrain many years ago may remember this venue with fondness. I remember that Corally and Fred Pole, and I believe Derek and Val Taylor used to visit this restaurant regularly. However I must admit, even though I have been in Bahrain 40 years this summer, this was only my second recent visit, the first being in February this year when we held another farewell party for our then ECC President Joe Isaacs. I must say I was enthralled with the exotic ambience and the sweet smelling fragrance of the Eastern culinary delights. I did mention to Rev. Stephen “you will feel like you are back home again when you step inside this very traditional Indian Restaurant”. Yes he was delighted, as we all were as seen from the photos.

The evening was a great success even though many of our volunteers were unable to make it. Even our President Mariam Jacob was not present because she had to fly to the US to attend her only daughter’s graduation - not only acquiring her MD but also her PhD. Well done Ely! However we had a great time of fellowship, with of course a little humour, Pam being present! God Bless her. We shared a typically Eastern fare which was enjoyed by all. After dinner we presented a farewell gift to Alan and Pam, a typical Bahrain Scene oil painting, which later I was told is going to be hung in their dining room, reminding them of the ECC’s work here in Bahrain, and how we are a silent but very important witness in our Christian Ministry.
