..…. going into the world…….
We are indeed very grateful to St. Christopher’s Anglican
Cathedral together with the Mission to Seafarers (London)
and the Bahrain International Seafarers Society for caring
for the seafarers calling into the port.
This ministry is part and parcel of the “Great Commission’
of our Lord. Shouldering the Great Commission of the Lord we
go into the world as we step onto the gangway of a ship and
take the love of Christ into the vessel where we meet many
different nationalities - the world.
It is also undeniable that we are able to welcome the world
(the different nationalities) at Bahrain International
Seafarers Society which functions at Khalifa bin Salman
Port. They come in as strangers, but go out as friends to
come back.
We advocate for the Seafarers. Mr. Moosa Karage
and Mr. Moosa Dathage from the motor vessel (m/v) SIAM PEARL
met me on board and shared that their salary had been
reduced for the last three months due to the financial
crisis in the shipping industry. They applied for sign-off,
but it was delayed. We took their case to the local
agent and he immediately helped us. The very next day
both of them were repatriated. We happened to meet
them just before they were leaving - with tears and hugging
us they said ‘good-bye’ with big thanks.
