Thank you to everyone who helped to make Christmas so meaningful and run so smoothly, particularly as it followed immediately on he heels of the Fete. Christmas too is a time when the regulars ‘go home’ and visitors come so an extra responsibility falls on those who stay behind.

Each year I learn something new from the Christmas story. This year’s gem came from a young reader from St Christopher’s School at the Carols by Candlelight service. His alternative reading of Luke 2 verse 11 gave us a new insight into the mission of Jesus when the angels told the shepherds - “Today in the town of David a Surveyor has been born to you.” Interesting!
