THE DIOCESAN SYNOD

Each year our diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf formally gathers its governing body, 'The Synod' made up of bishop, clergy and lay people from each chaplaincy in council together.  Next year the Synod meets from Monday, January 31st to Thursday, February 4th at the Lordos Beach Hotel in Larnaca, Cyprus.  The official lay delegates from Bahrain will be nominated from the membership of the Bahrain Anglican Church Council.  If anyone else would like to go (at their own expense) as an observer, then you are very welcome.

The next Synod includes a half day 'open forum' during which everyone attending the Synod will have the opportunity to make some contribution to the life of the diocese.

An important item of business at the Synod will be our response to the Windsor Report.  This report comes at the request of the Archbishop of Canterbury following the consecration of Gene Robinson as Bishop of New Hampshire, U.S.A. and the issue of ordained clergy/bishops in openly same-sex relationships.

If you wish to read the report or selected relevant parts then please apply to the cathedral office where copies are available.
