The Friends of the Diocese Reunion
4th August 2004

On 4th August, as is their custom on
the first Monday of August, more than 120 friends gathered at 1030
am (or shortly afterwards) at All Hallows by the Tower in London for
their annual reunion. What a joyous occasion this is, meeting up
with Christian brothers and sisters from not only St. Christopher’s,
but from other Diocesan churches – some of whom left the Gulf many
years ago. The day starts with the Annual General Meeting –
possibly always one of the shortest of any church ‘meeting’ – and is
followed by a service of Holy Communion and then lunch.
This year the day was
mellowed by the news that Archdeacon Ian Young had only the previous
week been rushed to hospital for emergency cardiac surgery, but as
recorded elsewhere, we can now report that Ian is making
excellent progress. That aside, a wonderful
day of ‘reunions’ was enjoyed by all. |
